Olubukola Abubakar Saraki was born in 1962 in the family of Olusla Saraki, who was a Senate leader of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 1979-1983. Abubakar Saraki attended King`s College in Lagos, then Cheltenham College in London.
He also studied at the London Hospital Medical College of the University of London. He started the career as a medical officer but then chose to become a director of Societe General Bank in 1990. In 2000, the President of Nigeria appointed him as the Special Assistant to the President for the budget. In 2015 he was elected as the president of the Senate.
Who is The Current Deputy Senate of Nigeria?
The Deputy President of the Senate provides assistance to the president of the Senate. He is the second-ranking officer in the Senate. The main responsibility of the Deputy President is to preside over the Senate in the absence of the Senate President. The current President of the Senate is Ike Ekweremadu of the People`s Democratic Party.
Ike Ekweremadu was born in 1962 at Amarchara Mpu of Enugu State. He is Igbo. He graduated from the University of Nigeria. He is also a Doctor of Philosophy in Law of the University of Abuja. He was the Chairman of Aninri in 1997 and the Secretary of the Enugu State Government in 2002. Later, he was appointed as the Chief of Staff of the Enugu State Government House.
In 2003 he was elected to the Nigerian Senate. In 2003, he was the Vice-Chairman of the Senate Committee on Information. Several times he participated in the race for President of the Senate of Nigeria. In 2006 he was a spokesperson for the Southern Senators` Forum. In 2007, he was assigned as the Deputy President of the Senate.
