– Former President Goodluck Jonathan has been described as a greater betrayal than Nigerians as claimed by Jonathan
– His kinsman in Bayelsa state has revealed various areas Jonathan betrayed Nigerians
– He said Jonathan should blame himself rather than blaming Nigerians over his 2015 poor outing
Former security adviser to the Bayelsa state government, Chief Perekeme Richard Kpodoh, has said that the loss of the former President Goodluck Jonathan during the 2015 poll was the payback from those he had betrayed politically.
Kpodoh, who was the interim chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Bayelsa state, said though the claims of the former President that he was betrayed by politicians was a mere blame game, noting that the defeat and eventual acceptance of defeat during the last presidential election showed he was repaid for betraying the people of the Niger Delta.
Kpodoh, who was reacting to the much talked ‘Against the Run of Play’ written by Segun Adeniyi, chairman of the editorial board of ThisDay newspapers, said Jonathan betrayed trust in the area of infrastructural development, the one tenure agreement with the PDP and the former governors of Rivers and Bayelsa states, Rotimi Amaechi and Timipre Sylva respectively.
He argued that though the book is filled with contentious claims and finger pointing by the former President, “he should know that those he betrayed waited for him during the presidential election to have their own pound of flesh. The loss at the poll was self-inflicted.
“Jonathan is the master of betrayal. He betrayed Amaechi by allowing his wife to engage a sitting governor in a disgraceful public battle.
“He betrayed Timipre Sylva by ensuring he did not contest for second term after covering him up for years of financial misdeed in Bayelsa.

“He even betrayed the party including Orubebe after a show of disgrace with protest against the outcome of the poll. He also betrayed the PDP leaders by disowning the gentlemen’s agreement reached on his tenure.
“He betrayed Obasanjo who brought him to power by using the daughter to disgrace him for writing a letter to correct him on national issues.
“He betrayed the people of the Niger Delta by refusing to change their status with roads and other infrastructure.
“He has even betrayed the writer of the book by claiming it is filled with errors. The people have paid him back and he should stop this ongoing public disgrace.“
Kpodoh argued that the people of the North east voted against the PDP and Jonathan because they felt betrayed over the issues of the Chibok girls and the partial state of emergency invoked by the former administration.
He said Jonathan’s presidency never wanted the people of North east to vote, adding that they shocked him by coming out en-masse to vote despite threat of Boko Haram.
On the reported claim by the former President that President Buhari succeeded against Boko Haram because he is from the North, Kpodoh said the claim is a defeatist way of argument, noting: “PMB won against Boko Haram because he is committed to the nation’s unity.

“Jonathan lost against Boko Haram because he lost the trust of the North East on the abduction of the Chibok girls.
“When the Chibok girls were kidnapped, the Jonathan’s presidency had doubt. It was a time the wife turned a comic relief to the shock of the nation. If they had moved quickly, they would have saved the Chibok girls.“
Chief Kpodoh called on the former President to stop the public charade by making unsubstantiated claims of betrayal.
He said: “He should stop his clandestine attempts to set the country ablaze with lies and deceit. And he should allow the Buhari presidency to focus on the ongoing development and anti-corruption battle.“
He also restated his call on Nigerians, the people of the six geo-political region to pray for the quick recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari, “as his quick recovery will ensure that the ongoing good jobs being done under the present administration is sustained.”
