– Kwara-based lawyer Mallam Ali says it is not unconstitutional for President Muhammadu Buhari to work home
– The Senior Advocate of Nigeria says where the president works from is irrelevant as long as he is doing the job
– He says Buhari can work from anywhere he likes
Mallam Yusuf Olaolu Ali, a Kwara state-based constitutional lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has said there was nothing unconstitutional about President Muhammadu Buhari working from home.
Ali made this known on Thursday, April 27, while addressing journalists, amid reports that President Muhammadu Buhari will henceforth be working from his official residence at the presidential villa, Vanguard reports.
He told journalists: “It is not stated in the constitution that our President cannot work from home. As long as he is working, it does not matter where he works from.

“In fact, where he works from is irrelevant.
“You can draw similarity from the workings of the legislature. Whenever they are not in plenary session, they still work. But people generally think that they work only when they are sitting.
“The issue of where Mr. President works from has suddenly become a debate because of his illness, which is neither here nor there. But the truth is that the man can work from wherever he likes.”
ZENITHBLOG.com had earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari will be working from his official residence at the presidential villa.
This was disclosed by the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, at the end of the meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday, April 26.
According to Mohammed, the president needed some rest and has asked that all the files on his table be brought to him at his official residence at the presidential villa, Abuja for treatment.
But a day after, Mohammed said the headlines in a section of the media, “Buhari to now work from home – Lai Mohammed,” is a misrepresentation of his statement at the briefing.
Quoting verbatim the relevant section of his briefing, Mohammed said: “He (the President) wanted to rest today.
“He asked the Vice President to preside over today’s meeting.”
