Former militant commander blames miscreants, street urchins over disruption of NDDC meeting in Port Harcourt

Ex-militant leader has absolved his colleagues over the disruption of the meeting organised by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in Port Harcourt

– Eshanekpe Israel said former militants have grown beyond disrupting programs saying right thinking former militants cannot cannot do so.

– He said it is street urchins and miscreants that disrupted the program just as he described the Managing Director as a good manager of resources

Former militant commander, Israel Eshanekpe, has said that the disruption of a meeting summoned by the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Nsima Ekere, on Tuesday, was the handiwork of miscreants and not former militants as being alleged by uninformed members of the public.

Eshanekpe, in an email to ZENITHBLOG.com on Wednesday, explained that the disruption of the meeting which was called by the commission’s Managing Director to investigate allegations of corruption and contract racketeering, was condemnable even as he said street urchins and miscreants who lurk around the commission’s premises were the brain behind the disruption.

According to him, no right thinking ex-militant would contemplate disrupting a meeting organised by the NDDC, a commission he said is anchoring a new vista of both human and material development in the region.

He added that the interest of the region which has been in turmoil over the years must be paramount in the minds of all

Niger Deltans, noting that without holding the region’s interest in mind, development will remain an illusion.

The meeting, which was organized by the commission, working with civil society organisations, traditional rulers in Port Harcourt, was marred by unruly youths who were not supposed to be part of the fact-finding meeting put together by the commission.

ZENITHBLOG.com learnt that the meeting was summoned by Ekere to find out what was true and what was not true about the allegations of contract racketeering, in order to immediately tackle them and resolve all issues concerned.

The committee was expected to work with interest groups like the civil society and the media to ensure that its work passed the test of time and inquiry.

In Ekere’s leadership, Eshanekpe said, the region is well pleased and urged him no to tarry in taking the region to the next level, adding that that saboteurs are everywhere in the region to undermine the efforts and achievements made by the commission.

He described Nsima Ekere as the best human and material resources manager in the history of the commission, noting that except for a person like Ekere managing the agency, development would remain elusive to the people of the region.
