A group within the Anambra state chapter of the APC, the Anambra APC Grassroots Support Group (AAGSG) has called for the disqualification of Honourable Tony Nwoye from the party’s primary election ahead of the Anambra governorship poll.
The AAGSG made the demand at a press conference on Thursday, August 3, at the state capital, Awka.

The group called on the National Executive of the party to immediately disqualify Nwoye for acts un-befitting of an aspirant of the party.
The group stated that while other aspirants had conducted themselves with the modest decorum, Nwoye had not taken that path.
The group said it had it on good source that Nwoye had been engaged in activities detrimental to chances of the party even before the primaries and will be prepared to present evidence when called upon.
The coordinator of group, Mr Anona Anaso called on the National Executive and all other organs of the party to purge the APC of elements capable of disuniting the party.
His words: “Owing to the nature of the forthcoming elections and the pressing need for APC in Anambra to win the November 18 elections, we as a party ought to check and weed out undesirable characters capable of causing disharmony amongst members of the party and dent very much the chances of success.

He accused Nwoye of not respecting the accord and sponsoring insidious allegations and petitions against other candidates.
“We have it on source that, typical of his undemocratic disposition, he has even threatened to work against the party should certain aspirants win the primaries.
“We therefore call on the party to immediately look into these charges and do the right thing or risk the victory that we so seek,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, a former gubernatorial candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the 2011 elections in Abia state, Prince Paul Ikonne, has accused a former governor of the state, Orji Uzor Kalu, of engaging in anti-party activities.
Ikonne who addressed a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, August 3, stated that the activities of Kalu are affecting the APC’s electoral chances in the state.
