– Lagos warned residents to be wary of fleeing Boko Haram terrorists
– The state said some of the terrorists were posing as security guards
– The police urged residents o profile their guards before employing them
The police have warned Lagosians to be careful when getting the service of house helps or security guards as there was intelligence report that fleeing Boko Haram terrorists were infiltrating cities.
The Nigerian Army announced that it has displaced Boko Haram terrorists from their stronghold in Sambisa forest and according to the police; they are now infiltrating big cities under the guise of being security guards.

Leadership reports that Fatai Owoseni who is the commissioner of police in Lagos said many people were inadvertently employing fleeing Boko Haram terrorists as guards.
The police commissioner noted that crimes related to domestic helps have increased and urged people to exercise and also allow police properly profile their employees.
He said: “Criminal elements and suspected militants/kidnappers have found themselves enlisted into services of private security companies where they choose the estates they want to go and work.”
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos has also noted that there was growing concern on the issue of security in relation to employing house helps and guard and said his administration was preparing a bill that will address this issue.
“It has been discovered that domestic workers are largely undocumented and pose a grave security threat in the state. The recruiting agencies must be licensed and regulated henceforth. Our safety is now non-negotiable.”
Jimoh Moshood who is the spokesperson of the Lagos state police command urged residents to do proper profiling before employing guards.
He said: “It is important that people should be vigilant when recruiting domestic staff. It is good they have their profile and also ensure they know who is bringing the domestic staff for them. They should also ensure that they get guarantors who will guarantee the good behaviour of such domestic staff. So that in case anything comes up, they will be able to locate them”.

“The issue of domestic staff or security guards is something that must be taken seriously because sometimes we leave the safety of our homes to these individuals. So, it is important you know where they are from. Some recruit staff without even having the picture of the person that they are recruiting. So they should endeavour to profile them, get their photographs and other details.”
“Our criminal register is very effective and working. So most of the time we rely on it for detecting crimes and profile of criminals.”
