We'll start eating them up alive soon: Court unfreezes Patience Jonathan's account and Nigerians can't keep calm

Report has it that a Federal High Court in Lagos has unfrozen former first lady Patience Jonathan’s account containing $5.9m.

This is coming a few hours after Justice Adeniyi Ademola was discharged and acquitted by a High Court in Abuja of all the 18 corruption charges filed against him.

It was gathered that a large number of women were at the court this morning to show their solidarity for the former first lady.

Many Nigerians are of the opinion that this a setback for the anti-corruption war which is one of the main goals of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.

Some others think the war against corruption is selective and the executive is not doing a good job of arranging the cases before heading to court.

A month ago, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) reportedly ransacked a mansion owned by George Turnah, a godson to former President Goodluck Jonathan. Cheque books and financial documents were taken away by the anti-graft agency.

Months ago, several bank accounts connected or controlled by Patience Jonathan were frozen following an order by the same Federal High Court in Lagos over criminal-related use.

The former first lady had sued the anti-graft agency, demanding $200 million as damages following the freezing of her bank accounts containing a total of $15 million.
