The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has said that the vice president Yemi Osinbajo is not qualified to investigate the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal and the director general of National Intelligence Agency Ayodele Oke.
ZENITHBLOG.com gathered that the NLC while commending the president for his decision to purge his cabinet of corruption said Osinbajo’s committee lack the expertise to investigate the allegations against the duo.

Speaking on the suspension on Thursday, April 20, the general secretary of NLC Peter Ozo-Eson said the union wonders why the vice president would head such a committee on investigation of criminal activities.
“Well, we think that it is something that is positive, there are those who will say that it has taken long, particularly the issue of the SGF,” Ozo-Eson said.

He added: “Well, government has now decided to suspend them and investigation is going on, it is fine. But what we don’t understand is how an administrative committee, chaired by the Vice President, will be investigating what is an alleged

He however noted that whatever processes that would be adopted must work towards making fact available to Nigerians.
“We need to know that there are no sacred cows and at the end of the day, we hope that justice will be done and citizens will be able to attest that justice has been done.”
“Once there are allegations of corruption and there are prima facie cases established while such investigation is going on, the normal practice is that people step aside, or are suspended or they remove themselves from the process,” he said.
Recall that the SGF and the DG of NIA were suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, April 19.

The president in his order said the duo were suspended pending the outcome of investigation on allegations against them.
President Buhari also named the vice president Yemi Osinbajo as head of the committee to investigate Lawal and Oke while ordering that the most senior person in the various agencies take their positions in acting capacity.
