On Wednesday, April 19, unidentified pirates boarded an unnamed “offshore tug” in the Gulf of Guinea and kidnapped eight members of the crew, living one injured.
The Nigerian Navy responded to the incident but they were too late as the attackers managed to escape.
One of the crew members who was injured in the attack was evacuated by helicopter. According to the ICC International Maritime Bureau’s Piracy Reporting Centre, this was the tenth serious incident in the Gulf of Guinea this year.
