The Guardian reports that Tam-George made the revelation in a statement released in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
According to the commissioner, the assassination attempts were foiled by former Chief Security Officer who was suddenly withdrawn by the Nigeria Police Force and six other officers who were also dismissed by the Force in January 2017.
Tam-George accused the APC of being behind the plots. He claimed that the party was making attempts on Wike’s life because of the Peoples Democratic Party’s victory over it at the Supreme Court on Wike’s legitimacy as Rivers’ chief executive.
He said: “It is no secret that the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration declared war on the government and people of Rivers State, soon after the party lost the governorship litigation at the Supreme Court in 2016.”
Tam-George alleged that the first attempt on Wike’s life happened just after Nigeria’s apex court confirmed Wike’s victory at the April 2015 governorship election.
