– Obi advised the Muhammadu Buhari-led government to embrace dialogue in deling with the groups

– He also revealed that detained Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu was once arrested by the federal government

A retired Major in the Nigerian Army, Ken Chioma Obi has revealed that detained IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was once arrested by the federal government.

Obi, 47, who retired from the Nigerian military 13 years ago for medical reasons, stated this in an exclusive interview with ZENITHBLOG.com over the weekend.

According to him, a serving senior officer in the Nigerian confided in him that Kanu was arrested by the then Obasanjo government but was later released.

”I have it on good authority by an intelligence chief whose name I’ll not mention, that this is not the first time that Nnamdi Kanu has been arrested,” Obi told ZENITHBLOG.com.

Obi urged the federal government to dialogue with IPOB, adding that they are not the first group to agitate for Biafra.

His words: ‘’Before IPOB, there have been MASSOB led by Chief Ralph Uwazurike. As a matter of fact, he spent more time in the struggle.

‘’He under-studied Odimegwu Okukwu for 11 years, he was

in India for about 8 years, under-studying the non-violent movement and philosophy of Ghandi.

‘’What makes IPOB unique is the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu and his being held against court orders, is what is making IPOB to be a bone in the neck of the government.

‘’My view is that the government should bring IPOB to a table. I don’t know any better way. Even if we fight another civil war, the war will still end up on a table.’’

Obi spends his retirement reading history books and heading a pressure group demanding for good governance in Nigeria

Obi stated that there is no big deal with any part of Nigeria demanding for their own country. According to him, his concern is that it should be done without any bloodshed.
