– The gate was blocked with a container after residents of the estate stood against the Lebanese building a church in the residential area

– The Lebanese accepted to blocking the gate

The Lebanese community has allegedly blocked the gate of a popular games village estate in Abuja over development of a disputed land within the estate.

The Lebanese were said to have carried out their action of blocking the entrance of the estate after residents questioned their plan to build a church inside the estate.

While confirming the incident to newsmen on Thursday, secretary of the games village residents association, Jude Uze, said it was totally wrong of the Lebanese to act in such way in another man’s country.

He said: “Lebanese community said they have approval from the authorities to build a church inside the estate and we said no.”

“We don’t have Lebanese community in the estate, who are those that will be attending the church, we don’t know.

“This morning they just came in and they brought in a container claiming that development control have given them the authority to start work.

“They said they have been given the order that if they were not allowed access into the estate that they should block the access road to estate. That’s the container you are seeing, blocking the estate.

“The fact that we can’t access our estate is a big affront. Can we do this in Lebanon? Can a Nigerian do this in Lebanon?

Also speaking, a security officer in the estate, Mohammed Bala said: “We don’t know what is in that container, we are afraid, they could be anything in that container. We have send our people to Police.”

However, in his reaction, leader of the Lebanese community, Albert Alwan who confirmed blocking the gate to the estate said: “Following instructions by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Bello and the development control.”

Alwan who was said to have led the blockade of the estate claimed that they were denied access to the estate and as a result decided to block access to the estate.

ZENITHBLOG.com had reported that residents of an area in Lagos state got angry at police officers allegedly threatening to shoot one of their own, after brutalizing the same person.
