– A popular media has accused the Senate President Bukola Saraki of encouraging the #FreeEvans campaign

– The #FreeEvans campaign had began immediately after the Code of Conduct Tribunal dismissed the charges of false asset declaration against Saraki

In a recent turn of event, popular New York-based media Sahara Reporters on Friday, June 30, launched an attack on the Senate President of Nigeria Bukola Saraki.

The media owned by controversial fellow Omoyele Sowore accused the Senate President of fueling the #FreeEvans hashtag on social media micro-blogging site Twitter.

Sahara Reporters said while replying to a press statement by the Senate President on a recent court judgement on a libel suit slammed on and its owner by a court in favour of Saraki said political criminals are the reason the #FreeEvans hashtag is trending.

Sahara Reporters said: “It is because of politically emboldened criminals like you @bukolasaraki that people are cynically campaigning for #Freeevans on @Twitter.”

ZENITHBLOG.com had reported that the Senate President and Sowore were on a war of words after the Code of Conduct Tribunal dismissed the charges against the former.

Sowore and the media aide to the Senate President Banikole Omisore who were at the centre of the controversy opened can of worms on each other.

Omisore alleged that Sowore was a thief and blackmailer who claimed that Saraki bribed the CCT chairman Danladi Umar with $2 million to win on the trial.

ZENITHBLOG.com also reported that the #FreeEvans campaign began immediately the CCT gave its ruling on the false assets declaration suit against the Senate President.

Chukwudi Onuamadike popularly known as Evans the kidnapper was arrested by police in Lagos after various atrocities the kidnapper committed in the state and across Nigeria.

Evans who is also referred to as the billionaire kidnapper is said to be the most notorious kidnapper in Nigeria.
