Panic as top APC member is kidnapped in Imo state, abductors want N6m

– The kidnappers reportedly picked Barrister Kingsley Ononuju immediately he left his home in Owerri

– The kidnapper are currently demanding for N6 million, but the police said the incident had not been reported

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Kingsley Ononuju, has been abducted in Imo state with his kidnappers demanding for N6 million as ransom.

The Punch reports that family sources said the lawyer and party chief was abducted after he left his residence located at Oguta Street in Aladimma area of Owerri at about 8 pm on Thursday, June 29.

The lawyer served as special adviser on new partnership for Africa’s development to the former Governor Ikedi Ohakim before joining the APC.

The abductors demanded for N6 million

The source said the abductors contacted the family on Friday, June 30 and demanded for N6 million before he would be released.

“We don’t know at what point he was kidnapped but his abduction took place after he left his Owerri residence at about 8 pm on Thursday.

“His abductors called on Friday and allowed us to speak to him. We also spoke on Saturday. They are demanding N6m as ransom,” the source reportedly said.

The commissioner of police in the state, Chris Ezike, said the incident had not been reported to the law enforcement agency.

Meanwhile, ZENITHBLOG.com reports that seemingly overwhelmed by the activities of the Badoo cult group that has taken over the Ikorodu area of Lagos, top officers of the Nigeria Police Force have met with the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC).

The meeting was to fashion out the best ways to curb the attacks by these cult members with a trademark of killing their victims with grinding stones or pestles.
