– The Youth Coalition for Good Governance lamented the fact that the NLNG does not have any Bonny indigene in top management positions, even though the indigenes were qualified for the positions
– The group questioned why contracts were handed out to outsiders- mostly northerners- instead of Bonny indigenes, and they cited an example of a recent contract handed out to a firm owned by northerners
– They reminded the federal government that these sorts of marginalization has led to militancy in the region, even as they vowed to resist
– They called on the minister to call the management of the NLNG to order, to stop what they referred to as ‘ethnic cleansing’
The Bonny chapter of the Youth Coalition for Good Governance (YCGG) has written an open letter to the minister of state for petroleum resources Ibe Kachikwu, urging him to take action to rectify what they allege is the marginalization of Rivers and Delta state indigenes by the management of the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) company.
The letter which was sent to ZENITHBLOG.com, was signed by Comrade Abarasi Halliday, the Bonny state chapter chairman of the YCGG.
