Though visa processing for children follow almost similar procedures as is with adult visas. however, a few variations usually exist. Nigerian visa for children or minors requires seven to ten business days to approve.

There are 2 fees associated with obtaining a visa, which includes the application fee.

The current visa fee for American passport holders is $180 but it is subject to change.

1. Nigerian visa appointment

Each applicant for the Nigerian visa must book an online appointment with their various Nigerian Embassy, Consulate or High Commission before visiting the Embassy for such Facilities.

2. Application form and visa type

It is important you print and sign the Nigerian Visa Application Form before going to the Embassy and also to chose the appropriate visa application type.

3. Nigerian Visa Payment Slip and Acknowledgement Slip.

You must print a copy of both slips before going to the Nigerian Embassy.

5.Birth certificate for every child applicant.

6. The Letter of Consent

The father of the child must give a written and signed letter of consent for the child, and a copy of his passport.

If the Mother has sole custody, she must provide a copy of the Court Order granting her full custody or authority to waive the rights of the Father.

7. 1 passport size photograph of Father or where the Mother has sole custody, 1 passport size photo of hers is required;

8. Photocopies of data page of Father’s current passport or the mother’s, where she presents a Court Order granting her rights.

Below are simple guidelines in applying for a Nigerian Visa:

1. Visit the home page of Nigeria Immigration Portal.

2. Click on the appropriate application form to start the process.

3. Entry Visa/Freezone Application Form

4. Fill the Application form

5. Click on ‘Submit Application’ button to view ‘Applicant details page’

6. Click on “Proceed to Online Payment”

7. Click to select Payment Currency “Pay in Dollars” option then Click on ‘Continue’ button

8. Please take your visa payment receipts, passport and other documents to the Nigerian Embassy in your Country of abode on your slated interview date for your Visa.

Note that, in addition to the visa and passport fees paid online, the embassy charges an additional processing fee of $30 per applicant while $85 is required for expedite application.
