– The wait is over for the two ministers awaiting inauguration for about three months
– Stephen Ocheni (Kogi) and Suleiman Hassan (Gombe) were confirmed by the Senate in the first week of May
– The absence of President Muhammadu Buhari seems to have delayed their swearing-in and resumption
A report by Daily Trust indicates that Acting President Yemi Osinbajo will tomorrow swear in the two ministers-designate, Stephen Ocheni (Kogi) and Suleiman Hassan (Gombe) after about three months delay.
The report quoted sources in the presidency saying that all is set for the duo’s inauguration on Wednesday, July 26.
Ocheni and Hassan’s nominations were confirmed by the Senate about three months ago and they have had to wait as President Muhammadu Buhari has been away on medical vacation.
Ocheni is to replace the late former minister of state for labour, James Ocholi; while Hassan is to replace Amina Mohammed who resigned as minister of environment to become the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General.

Interestingly, Osinbajo had told journalists after his return from London to see the president, that they didn’t discuss anything like the swearing-in of the ministers-designate, adding that he could not go into the specifics of all his discussions with Buhari.
Two months ago, the minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, had assured Nigerians that the two new ministers-designate would be inaugurated in due course.
About the same time, the authority of Kogi State University (KSU) Anyigba, has cleared Professor Ocheni.
KSU declared that the professorial appointment of the Kogi ministerial nominee followed due process.
They called on the general public to disregard publication making the round about the Ocheni’s academic qualifications.
