The anti-corruption agency said in a statement on Tuesday, May 2 that the reports of Kuku, who served as Special Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan on Niger-Delta Affairs, being held back from prosecution were not true.

EFCC says reports that its officials were shielding Kuku from prosecution were false and fabricated by some people

“The EFCC ordinarily ought not to dignify the reports with a response given that it was not directly named by the ghost sources.

“However, the stories are dripping with innuendos that left little to the imagination regarding the agency under reference.

Punch’s allusion is a fact known to everybody but the authors of the malicious story were either scared of the Commission or too embarrassed by their infantile gambit to name the EFCC,” Mr. Uwujaren said.

Meanwhile, ZENITHBLOG.com gathered that the presidency has disclosed that President Muhammdu Buhari may again forward the name of Ibrahim Magu to the Senate for confirmation as ssubstantive chairman of the EFCC

The senior special adviser to the president on media and publicity Garba Shehu made the disclosure during a recent visit to Daily Trust in Abuja.

Magu, who heads the EFCC in the acting capacity, has been rejected by the Senate twice based on a report by the Department of State Security which alleged that the nominee lacked integrity to lead the country’s anti-corruption agency.
