– Melania and Ivanka Trump visited Saudi Arabia with their husbands
– They did not wear the traditional scarves women use in that country
– Ironically, Trump had critized Michelle Obama for not using it on a trip she made to the Middle Eastern country two years ago
U.S. president Donald Trump arrived in Saudi Arabia on Saturday to attend the Arab Islamic American Summit, and both his wife Melania and daughter Ivanka went with him.
It was widely noted that neither woman wore head scarves for their arrival in Riyadh.
Some took notice that when former First Lady Michelle Obama also forgo her scarf two years ago on a Saudi Arabia visit, Trump slammed her for it, on a tweet that read: “Many people are saying it was wonderful that Mrs. Obama refused to wear a scarf in Saudi Arabia, but they were insulted. We have enuf (sic) enemies.”
Women in this Middle Eastern country are required to wear special clothing that encompasses all their bodies, which included the niqab, or scarf that covers their face and hair. Pants are not well seen.

Melania’s outfit, although very modern, bore a certain Middle Eastern look. She looked very elegant in a black pantsuit. Ivanka’s dress did show her ankles, but it was quite long, and did not have a low-cut neckline.

Both Melania’s and Ivanka’s attires were considered quite conservative. They were nevertheless far from the harsh restrictions Saudi Arabian women have to wear every day, especially when they leave their houses.
