Editor’s note: As today May 28, 2017 marks the second day of Ramadan, Hijrah 1438, As today May 28, 2017 marks the second day of Ramadan, Hijrah 1438, ZENITHBLOG.com brings to you the reason sins are forgiven in this sacred month a
In the name of Allah, The most beneficent, the most merciful, whoever Allah guides, no one can lead him astray and whoever Allah sends astray, no one can guide him.
Verily the best of speech is the Book of Allah (Qur’an) and the best guidance is the guidance of Prophet Muhammad (May Allah give him peace and bless him), and the most evil matters are those that are newly invented, for every newly invented matter is an innovation and every innovation is misguidance and every misguidance is in the Hellfire
Ramadaan being one of the basic institutions or five pillars of Islam is the Islamic holy month of fasting. It is the ninth month on the Islamic calendar, which is based on a lunar cycle. Ramadan begins and ends with the official sighting of the new moon.
Ramadaan is the month of repentance and forgiveness
This blessed month is a great opportunity for goodness, barakah (blessing), worship and obedience towards Allaah.

It is a great month, a noble season, a month in which hasanaat (rewards for good deeds) are multiplied and in which committing sayi’aat (bad deeds) is more serious than at other times. The gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are shut, and the sinners’ repentance to Allaah is accepted.
So give thanks to Him for the season of goodness and blessing that He has bestowed upon you, and for the means of bounty and various kinds of great blessings for which He has singled you out. Make the most of this blessed time by filling it with acts of worship and forsaking haram (forbidden) things, so that you may attain a good life in this world and happiness after death.
The Holy Qur’an
For the sincere believer, every month is an occasion for worship and his whole life is spent in obeying Allaah, but in the month of Ramadaan he has even more motives to do good and his heart is even more focused on worship, and he turns even more to his Lord.
By His grace, our generous Lord bestows His bounty upon the fasting believers and multiplies the reward for them on this blessed occasion, so He gives abundantly and rewards generously for righteous deeds.

The month of Ramadaan is the month of great gains and profits. The smart trader is the one who makes the most of special occasions to increase his profits. So make the most of this month by doing lots of acts of worship, praying a great deal, reading Qur’aan, forgiving people, being kind to others and giving charity to the poor.
In the month of Ramadaan the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are shut. The devils are put in chains and a caller cries out each night, O seeker of good, proceed, O seeker of evil, desist.
So, O slaves of Allaah, be among the people of good, following the path of your righteous forebears who were guided by the Sunnah of your Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), so that we may end Ramadaan with our sins forgiven and our righteous deeds accepted.
It is worth mentioning here that whoever fasts in the month of Ramadan will have all his previous sins forgiven. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said in an authentic hadith:
Abu Hurairah (RadhiAllahu anhu) reported that the Prophet (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said:
“He, who observes fasting during the month of Ramadan with Faith while seeking its reward from Allah, will have his past sins forgiven.”

Commentary: “Sins” here means minor sins which relate to the Rights of Allah, (Al-Bukhari and Muslim).
“He (Allah) will forgive you of your sins-“ (Al-Ahqaf, 46:31)
The phrase “of your sins” means the part of sins that man has committed with respect to His Lord; they will be forgiven in Ramadan, while sins committed between man and others will not be forgiven, even if he is a martyr.
“All the sins of a shahid (martyr) are forgiven except debt.”
(Narrated by Ahmad in his Musnad, and Sahih Muslim from Ibn ‘Amr)
Accordingly, the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“There are three kinds of sins: the unforgivable sin, which is shirk (associating others with Allah); a sin that cannot be passed over, which is the one as regards the others; and the forgivable sin, which is the one committed with respect to Allah.” (Narrated by Tabaraani from Salman]
So: “Whoever performs hajj, during which he neither has sexual intercourse (with his wife) nor commits sins, will return (as sinless) as a newborn child on the very day his mother delivered him.”
(Narrated by Ahmad in his Musnad, Sahih Bukhari, An-Nassai and Ibn Majah from Abu Hurayra)
This is as regards the sins committed with respect to Allah:
“Whoever fasts during Ramadan with faith and seeking his reward from Allah, will have his past sins forgiven.”
And also: “Whoever prays during the nights in Ramadan with faith and seeking his reward from Allah, will have his past sins forgiven.”
The above applies to the sins with respect to Allah, while those as regards the others are not passed over. That is why the Noble Prophet, on entering the house of one of his righteous companions who had just died, and before praying for him, asked:
“Does he owe money to anyone?’ They said: “Yes, he does. “Supplicate for your companion”, and he didn’t pray for him, till one of the companions said: “O Messenger of Allah, I will pay off his debt.” So the messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, prayed for him.
The next day the messenger of Allah asked the man who had volunteered to pay off the debt: “Have you paid the debt off?” He said: “Not yet.” On the following day he repeated the same question and the man gave the same answer. On the following day he asked the man again and the man answered in the affirmative.

The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “Now his skin has cooled down” (Narrated by Ahmad from Jabir).
May Almighty Allah consider our fast a form of worship and give us the benefits associated with it. Praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the Worlds.
