National President of the National Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators, Eshanekpe Israel, a.k.a Akpodoro has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for steering the ship of the Nigerian state in the direction of economic recovery describing him as a blessing to the people of Nigerians.

While sending Easter greetings to Christians in the country, he called on Christians not to relent in their efforts at praying Nigeria out of crisis saying peace must reign in the country.

Akpodoro made the commendation after a meeting held in Abuja over the weekend by the leadership of the group to commemorate Easter and equally discuss the effects of the delay in the payment of stipends by the federal government to ex-militants in the Niger Delta region.

In an email to ZENITHBLOG.com after the meeting, the ex-agitators noted that Christ had already died for the freedom of mankind from pains and agony, saying leaders should not do things capable of causing hardship and trauma to the citizens of the country.

The group noted that although it commended the efforts of the Buhari – led administration at removing Nigeria from the woods but decry what it described as unnecessary delay in the payment of the allowances to ex-agitators by the amnesty office.

According to him, the president no doubt has the interest of the Nigerian

people at heart but was quick to add that his aides were not on the same page with him as he called on Nigerians to support the president to rebuild the nation.

The group leader noted that the supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the region were going through difficult times as they suffer discrimination in the hands of the governors of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He stressed that the principle of loyalty demanded patronage and that his group expected nothing short of patronage from Buhari’s government.

Akpodoro said he led thousands of ex-militants and youth to declare and support the president’s emergence but till date has not been empowered even though he solely bankrolled the activities of the group before the election till date.

Unlike the empowerment drive of the northern part of the country that is dominated by the APC governors who he noted are evenly engaging the youth in that part of country, the Niger Delta region was not like that, adding that the youths were grossly discriminated during periods of empowerment.

I need to be empowered by this government that I led people to work for. The pressure on me is very high and am short of alibi for my followers.

“The youths of the south-south region who are loyalists of the president are roaming the streets while PDP youths get all the empowerment and my followers and others are already asking questions as to why the continued neglect from the government we brought on board,” he stated.
