War against insurgency not won until the reminaing Chibok girls are found – Buhari

– President Muhammadu Buhari has hailed the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for its achievements in the last 53 years

– Buhari hailed the NAF for preserving Nigeria’s territorial integrity through the employment and projection of air power

– He however noted that the war against insrgency in the North East won’t be complete if the remaining Chibok girls captured by Boko Haram are not rescued

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the war against Boko Haram insurgents would continue until the remaining Chibok school girls are found.

The president made the remarks at the grand finale of the 53rd anniversary of the NAF held at its Tactical Air Command base in Makurdi, Benue state on Saturday, April 22.

He was however represented at the event by the minister of defence, Mansur Dan-Ali (rtd).

President Buhari says the insurgency war cannot be complete without the rescue of the Chibok girls and other abductees by Boko Haram

His words: “Like I said during the last Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, we would not consider the war against insurgency fully won until the reminaing Chibok girls are found and delivered to their parents.

“Government is fully committed and determined to fufil this objective.”

He disclosed that his administration procured the newly acquired aircrafts to intensify the search for the girls with a view to rescuing them and reuniting them with their parents.

“You should deploy the new platforms alongside others in your inventory, to intensify the aearch for the girls and all other abductees.

“I urge you to operate these platforms in an efficient and effective manner so that Nigeria would derive maximum dividend and value for resources expended in their acquisition,” the president

said.

President Buhari also urged the NAF not to relent until terrorism is completely wiped out of the country.

Earlier, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadique Baba Abubakar, reiterated the support of NAF to the Buhari-led administration and thanked him for equipping the force to fight insurgency and other forms of terrorism in all parts of the country.

Highlights of the occasion included the presentation of new ceremonial colour to the newly established command of the Air Force in Bauchi state, the decoration of six pilots with wings and the unveiling of Mi-35m attack helicopter for all round operation among others.
