The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has called on the federal government to scrap the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The chairman of the University of Ibadan (UI) chapter Deji Omole said JAMB has outlived its usefulness thereby reducing the standard of offering admissions to Nigerian students.
Omole who spoke to journalists on Wednesday, April 19, in Ibadan said a new standard of admission must set and introduced into the system.

ASUU said JAMB has outlived its usefulness and this has led to the dwindling standard of offering admissions by universities
He said the nation can no longer trust the future of the younger generation to a body that failed to conduct a mock examination.
“Why will anybody make life difficult for candidates whose parents are struggling to live under the terrible condition the government has made them to live in?

“This is where people are duping Nigerian children. This is a total failure. Students must have at least three months for registration, its procedure must be open and their options to public universities must not be limited to serve the agenda of the proprietors of private universities,” Omole said.
Recall that the mock examination scheduled by JAMB failed to hold on Saturday, April 15, due to some challenges faced by the board.
The examination body has also extended the registration of application forms by candidate over various hitches and logistics issues.
