– Femi Adesina recently said, in reaction to a call for President Buhari to resign, that the latter would win if he contests again
– Chief Chekwas Okorie of the United Peoples Party, said Adesina refused to measure the opinions of Nigerians before he made the declaration
Just days after suspended member of the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin, advised President Muhammadu Buhari to resign on health ground, another prominent Nigerian has supported the call.
Okorie does not see any reason why Buhari should contest again in 2019
Chief Chekwas Okorie, the national chairman of the United Progressives Party (UPP), reacted to the statement by Femi Adesina, the presidential spokesperson, who said Buhari will win if he presents himself for another election.

Vanguard reports Okorie as saying that Adesina did not read the mood of the nation well before making his comment.
Okorie said Nigerians were disappointed with the poor performance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
According to him, the best option available to President Buhari is to bow out honourably in 2019 after his first term or be humiliated at the polls.
He said: “Mr Adesina is not reading the mood of the nation correctly. What he said
“The mood of most Nigerians is that of despondency and disappointment. Halfway into President Buhari’s four-year term, there is nothing to show that the change they voted for will happen before 2019.
“Nigerians are very compassionate people by nature. They have been praying for good health for the president.

“The last thing they will expect is for a president with health challenge, who has been struggling to perform his duties, to present himself for election for a second mandate.
“The best option for President Buhari is to bow out after his first tenure like Dr Nelson Mandela did in South Africa. If he re-presents himself for election, he will be humiliated at the ballot box.”
Meanwhile, Nigerians are still groaning over the state of the economy. Watch the video here:
