Orji Kalu lists 3 ways FG has promoted Biafra agitation

Orji Uzor Kalu has advocated for dialogue as a better medium for the people to express their concerns to appropriate authorities.

Former governor of Abia state, Orji Uzor Kalu, has identified certain issues that have fueled the agitation for the sovereign state of Biafra in the south east part of the country.

Kalu, speaking when he hosted a group of graduate African students of the National War College at Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, DC recently, noted that the marginalisation of the south east in all ramifications was one of the main issues fueling the Biafra agitation, the Sun reports.

The former governor also stated that 46 years after the civil war, the region has not been fully integrated into the Nigerian nation.

Kalu pointed out to the poor state of federal roads and other social amenities in the south east is alarming and disturbing.

He said: “The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) are borne out of the grievances of Ndigbo. Even though there is a law in the

United Nations that recognizes the right to self- determination.”

The former governor however, stated that the approaches of IPOB and MASSOB are faulty.

He advocated that dialogue is a better medium for the people to express their concerns to appropriate authorities.

Meanwhile, some governors from the South-East region have announced their plans to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari over the prolonged detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra Nnamdi Kanu.

The governors made the announcement in Enugu while addressing journalists after a meeting.

ZENITHBLOG.com gathered that the governors led by David Umahi – the chairman of the forum – said issues discussed include the release of Nnamdi Kanu from detention at the Kuje Prison, the growing agitation for the freedom of Biafra by the IPOB and the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) among many others.
