Editor’s note: Before 2015 general election, there were prophesies that Nigeria would break up. The United States and some pastors predicted that Nigeria might not exist after 2015 general election. But the election was held successfully and since then Nigeria still remains a single entity.
In a message sent to ZENITHBLOG.comZENITHBLOG.com, a Facebook user, Dan Ok chronicles how those prophecies were made and how they eventually failed.

As God has successfully driven us in peace to witness the most anticipated elections of all times and as we prepare to mark another independence day celebration, I have decided to take a critical look at one of the most serious and evil prophecies ever given by the American nation about Africa’s most populous nation, Nigeria.
The year 2015 raised a lot of fears, anxieties and worries in the hearts of Nigerian’s both abroad and at home. Many prophecies came concerning Nigeria’s unity especially at the wake of the 2015 general elections.

Respectable men of God gave their own side of the prophecies of doom concerning the 2015 general elections and Nigeria but none came to pass. However, my main focus here is on the American prophesy of the impending collapse of the Nigerian nation in 2015.
The tales of gloom about Nigeria’s impending doom or collapse in 2015 by the American nation was heard by many if not all Nigerians. This prophesy, came some five to ten years before 2015.
The thesis of Nigeria’s doom emanated from a report released in January 2005 in a day conference of US experts on Africa. This consultation was sponsored by the National Intelligence Council under the auspices of the office for Africa.
The gathering was to discuss trends in Sub-Saharan Africa over the next fifteen years with the United States’ concern primarily being to ensure its security and interests. It is a known fact that the US takes very seriously her role and place in the world, how to secure her dominance in the world affairs and ensure that no one is a threat to the American nation.
Rev Mathew Hassan Kukah draws three examples from the report to explain this point in his convocation lecture at the University of Uyo. I will also draw from this to make my point.
These were some astounding points that came from the conference:
– “The level of violence in Africa is unlikely to change appreciably in the next fifteen years. Most conflicts will be internal. Many African security forces will undergo further atrophy due to low economic growth, shrinking foreign military aid, and the impacts of AIDS.
– “Africa is likely to become a major supplier of international terrorists due to the profound differences between Islam practiced in Africa and in the Middle East. Foreign terrorists, however, may seek sanctuary in Africa or attempt to hide weapons and assets there. The overwhelming majority of terrorist activity in Africa will involve or be caused by indigenous groups waging war against local governments and populations.

– “The most important terrorist-related trend affecting the United States is the further development of pockets of radical Islam that actively provide support and sanctuary to international terrorists. Most African countries will continue to proclaim a public adherence to democracy and no other form of government will significantly challenge the nominal allegiance to regular elections; however, commitment to democracy in Africa will remain a “mile wide and inch thick”.
– “Other potential developments might accelerate decline in Africa and reduce even our limited optimism. The most important would be the outright collapse of Nigeria.”
– “While Nigeria’s leaders are locked in a bad marriage that all dislike, but dare not leave, there are possibilities that could disrupt the precarious equilibrium in Abuja.”
– “An overwhelming majority of terrorism will be caused by indigenous groups waging war against their own or neighboring governments or against other population groups, defined by religion or ethnicity.”
However, the US government denied this prediction through the US Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Terence McCauley, saying that it was not the US government that made that projection, could put to rest the prevailing view that US had predicted that Nigeria would be a failed state in 2015.
The report did not stop there, it even went further to predict the Boko Haram crisis in the North saying it would be sponsored and supported by some Northern Muslim politicians and Saudi Arabia. After this, questions arose. Some people asked “is this what the American nation is wishing Nigeria?”
Some said, “Could this be what the American nation is planning to do in Nigeria or Africa?” and so on. They however turned these questions to direct speeches when the blood-sucking demons of Boko Haram insurgents began serious attacks and killings from 2009 in the North. Some said that it

Yes, some of the American prophesies came to pass. The level of violence in Africa has increased over the last 20 years. Africa has become a major supplier of international terrorists due to the profound differences between Islam practiced in Africa and in the Middleman East, some of the overwhelming terrorism is caused by indigenous groups waging war against their own government, but the biggest and mother of all these prophesies has been drowned into the Niger and Benue River.
Though there were serious signs Nigeria was going to collapse as they said. In 2015 Nigeria witnessed the most controversial elections of all times since independence. This election took place between a people who have never ascended the position of the Nigeria’s President but yet are the source of the country’s wealth, who only had an opportunity to be President by luck and a people who believe that they were naturally made to rule “born to rule mentality”.
The British during colonialism distrusted the former which they considered troublesome because they asked for independence wished to hand over power north. They allocated larger regions and populations to the North, assigned to those dominating roles and this gave them the morale to consolidate their born to rule ideology.
The Northern and Western parts ruled this country for more than 35years since independence and never gave the South and East the chance until the emergence-by-luck of Middletown Jonathan. So the burning desire for the North to return to power and continue to rule and the burning desire of South to cling to power were the things that made the general elections a bomb.
After General Muhammadu Buhari was declared winner of the March 28th Presidential elections, some Nigerians began to leave the country to foreign countries, some foreigners also found their ways back to their countries, some booked their ticket or applied for their visas in other to leave the country.
All these were done with the fear that Nigeria will be thrown into another era of civil war. Many never believed Jonathan could relinquish power to the Northern General. At this point, everyone saw the American prophecy of doom about our country come true.
To God be the glory Middleman election came and gone and God used Goodluck Jonathan to foil the prophecy of the American nation which was expected through the 2015 elections.
In the South-East of Nigeria was the cry of Biafrans who felt they were in no oasis desert and wilderness and needed to be liberated. Seeking for a platform to begin serious protests and agitation for a sovereign state, and when non presented itself, they invited their Radio Director Nnamdi Kanu to invade Nigeria knowing well that he would be arrested by the Buhari led federal government.
He had two passports, a British and a Nigerian Passports according to President Buhari but came to Nigeria with none.
Yes, Buhari being a daring general arrested him and Biafrans had the opportunity to begin their protest as they planned. To God be the glory again, this could not still make us a divided nation so the American nation will have her pride of fulfilled prophecy of doom.

Today, Nigeria stand great, united and growing stronger under the leadership of one time General though there are many things undone in his leadership to take the nation greater. The American nation is ashamed that Nigeria stands strong against her prophesy of doom.
I would love to conclude this way, men speak in their human wisdom but God speaks in His supernatural wisdom. Man proposes, God disposes, the will of God is not the will of man. God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
