Senator Dino Melaye has been accused of allegedly diverting some relief materials meant for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
Vanguard reports that the accusation were made by the Kogi state chairman of the Association of Local Governments in Nigeria (ALGON) Toufiq Isah, who equally called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other relevant to investigate and prosecute the senator.

According to Isah, Melaye allegedly diverted items meant for IDPs in the North West to his home town Ayetoro-Gbede in December, 2016.

Isah was quoted as telling newsmen on Monday, April 17 in his home town Okoro–Gbede in Ijimu that Melaye has been abandoning his responsibilities as a senator of Kogi state.
He said: “I am using this medium to call on the EFCC and the Presidency to investigate how items meant for IDPs in the North-east got to the hand of a senator who ordinarily is supposed to contribute to ameliorate the sufferings of the people.

While explaining attempts to assassinate Melaye which the lawmaker accused him of masterminding, Toufig said Melaye was the one that entered into Ayetoro with policemen shooting guns sporadically to scare people.
He said: ”It is Melaye’s responsibility to protect the lives and properties of his people, in-tandem with improved living standard, but if he cannot do it he should allow them to have peace instead of causing unnecessary distraction.”
Meanwhile, ZENITHBLOG.com gathered that the Nigeria Police Force has arrested seven people over alleged attempt on the life of the Senator Melaye representing Kogi West.
The individuals were arrested by the Kogi state police command in connection with the attempt on the senator’s life at his residence in Aiyetoro-Gbede on Saturday, April 15.
