The Rivers state amnesty committee has started the process of mopping up arms in Ogoni land, after a series of disarmament was done in other parts of the state.

The exercise which was done in Bori, headquarters of Khana LGA had some cult groups coming out to submit their arms.
In attendance at the disarmament scheme was chairman of the Rivers state amnesty committee, Ken Chinda, the caretaker committee chairman of Khana LGA, Barida Augustine and other dignitaries from the Rivers state government.
ZENITHBLOG.com recalls that Rivers state has been a hot spot for cult-related activities which has been a very big problem to residents of the state, especially during election periods.

At the end of the exercise, arms and ammunition were recovered from the cultists and they promised to let peace reign in Rivers state.

Meanwhile, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state, has alleged that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Idris Ibrahim, has given the new Commissioner of Police posted to Rivers State a mandate to get him assassinated.
ZENITHBLOG.com reports that Wike made the allegation while fielding questions from reporters on Saturday, April 8.
Asked if he was aware that Rivers State has a new Police Commissioner, Wike said: “Yes, and he told me he is going to do a professional work and I told him, ‘You, a professional work?’ You can’t be independent and can’t do a professional work.
