– The tweet purportedly claims that she was being terrified by security agents
Following her forced retirement by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the ongoing backlash over the $43.4m, £27,800 and N23.2m recovered from a building in Ikoyi area of Lagos, Mrs Nnamdi-Ogbue has released a statement.
Below is the press release by her lawyers from the law firm of Emeka Etiaba SAN, Etiaba & CO. Etiaba Chambers.
“We continue to act as lawyers to Mrs Esther Nnamdi Ogbue (Our Client) and do refer to a tweet posted by a faceless person, purporting the tweet to be that of Our client.
“The tweet reads thus:
“If you terrify me further I will become a dangerous whistle blower and Nigeria will burn. I am not the owner of the money.”

She never posted any such tweet.
She does not intend to so do.
No Security Agency has terrified her as claimed by the tweet.
“It is her belief that the vexatious tweet is the handiwork of her blackmailers and the public is urged to discountenance such tweet, many of which may still come as it is obvious that the originators

Meanwhile, the statement released by the NNPC of their retirement, said:the statement released by the NNPC of their retirement, said: “In line with the ongoing reforms in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the management has announced the retirement of some staff and the deployment of others.”
“The retired staff are; Mrs. Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue, managing director, NNPC retail Ltd; Mr. Alpha P. Mamza, executive director, operations, NNPC retail Ltd; and Mr. Oluwa Kayode Erinoso, manager, distribution, NNPC retail Ltd.
“Other deployments are Adeyemi Adetunji, the managing director of NNPC retail Ltd; Engr. Lawal Bello, executive director, operations, NNPC Retail Ltd; Mrs. Affiong Akpasubi, executive director, services, NNPC Retail Ltd; and Mr. Agwandas A. Andrawus, Manager, Distribution, NNPC Retail Ltd.
“The appointments take effect, immediately. Until his new assignment as the managing director of NNPC retail Ltd, Mr. Adetunji was general manager, strategy & planning, gas & power and also former general manager, transformation office.
“The group managing director of NNPC, Dr Maikanti Baru, charged the deployed staff to remain committed to their duties in line with the transformation aspirations of the management.”
