The Nigeria Customs Service has redeployed 48 comptrollers of customs in what has been described as a major shake-up effected by the comptroller-general of customs, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd).

Following the redeployment, Comptroller Madugu, M.J was moved from Sokoto/Kebbi/Zamfara to Ogun Command, Comptroller Udo-aka, E.A from Investigation to Oyo/Osun Command and Compt. Isiyaku, K from Tariff and Trade to Port Harcourt 1 among others, Vanguard reports.
ZENITHBLOG.com learnt that the redeployment is in line with the ongoing reforms of the service.
Highlighting other changes in the service, the customs spokesman, Joseph Attah, in a statement on Thursday, April 20, said the comptroller-general’s compliance team has been disbanded and a new team reconstituted.
The recent shake-up in the Nigeria Customs Service is in line with ongoing reforms of the service.
According to the statement: “The new Compliance team is divided into three. Team A for Western Axis, B for Northern axis and C for Eastern axis.
“They are to complement the Federal Operations Units in order to vigorously crackdown on all forms of smuggling activities nationwide with particular focus on the enforcement of non-importation of rice and vehicles through the land
“The new CGC’s Compliance team will be co-ordinated by Comptroller Azarema A.A who before now has been the Comptroller License and Permit at the NCS HQ.
“The Axis will be led by Assistant Comptrollers of Customs.

“While effecting these changes, the CGC expressed his determination to strategically reposition the Service as a crucial contributor to the success story of the nation.”
Attah noted that revenue leakages must be blocked, adding that the nation needs all collectable revenue.

In another news report, a suspected Boko Haram terrorist, Amos Hassan, has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Adamawa.
ZENITHBLOG.com reported that Mr Aliyu Musa who is the state commandant of the corps made this revelation on Wednesday, April 19
Musa said the suspected terrorist was apprehended on Tuesday, April 18 at the Federal Housing Estate in Bajabure area of Yola.
