But to its chagrin, the commissioner summoned an emergency meeting inviting all principals to attend the meeting in Kwale, headquarters of Ndokwa west local government area of the state a day after the governor had finalised with the NUT members.

The group, which commended the governor for his intervention, wondered why the commissioner should threaten the principals to attend a meeting when the state governor had intervened and settled matters that led to the industrial action with members

of the NUT the previous day.

The group is of the view that the principals wouldn’t have died had the commissioner not threatened them to attend the meeting which the group queried its rationale.

The statement read in part: “After the Thursday 23rd March 2017 meeting with NUT in the Warri government house annex with the governor, news filtered in that NUT had reached some agreement with the state government.

“In an inexplicable show of power, which does not exist, and the use of all kinds of threat, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, the commissioner of basic education, ordered that all principals must need gather on Friday 24th March 2017 for a meeting, to what end?
