UNILAG authorities have said the 13 students in Kirikiri prisons comprise of rusticated students and some students from an institution in Ogun state.
The management of the University Of Lagos (UNILAG) has said the 13 students who are being remanded at the Kirikiri Maximum Prisons in Lagos are not students of the institution.

ZENITHBLOG.com recalls that the students who were reported to be from UNILAG, were arrested and remanded by a special offences mobile court pending the hearing of their bail application slated for April 6.
The undergraduates were accused of invading the premises of the Television Continental (TVC) in Lagos and arraigned on a two-count charge of unlawful invasion and disruption of activities before Chief Magistrate P.E. Nwaka.
However, the institution in a statement signed by the deputy registrar, information unit, Mr. Toyin Adebule, on Tuesday, April 4, said
The institution said: “University of Lagos, hereby states that the 13 students remanded by the court as reported by different newspaper tabloids and electronic publications to be UNILAG students are not students of the institution. These “students” comprise of rusticated students and some students from an institution in Ogun State.

“Let us emphasise here that the rusticated students are requested to apply for re-admission after serving their punishment. Until re-absorption, they are not considered bona fide students of the university.’’
Meanwhile, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Monday, April 3, issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the court to release the students.
NANS also accused UNILAG authorities of colluding with the Nigeria police command in Lagos to ensure that the students do not partake in the school’s forthcoming examination.
