The group, the Mutual Union of the Tiv, alleges that Benue state is under herdsmen invasion.
The Tiv community in the United Kingdom (UK) has called on all Tiv sons and daughters around the world to stand up against herdsmen’s occupation in Benue state.

The community, on the platform of Mutual Union of the Tiv (MUT), United Kingdom, in a statement by the president, Martin Akiga, criticised the federal government over farmers clashes with herdsmen and other criminal elements in Benue.
The group alleged that in the last three years, 2,000 Tiv indigenes have been brutally killed and a further 750 wounded or harmed by herdsmen.
It said: “Over the past few years, herdsmen’s occupation in Benue State has led to widespread deaths, seizure of indigenous lands and destruction of farmlands and produce.”
The group says estimates that, 100,000 men, women and children are refugees as a result of herdsmen attacks on Tiv people.

“Our people are farmers and do not go to other states asking for ‘farming reserves.’ Our neighbouring states would never agree to this. Why should we create grazing reserves for nomads?”
Meanwhile, in another recent attack in Benue state, ZENITHBLOG.com reported that about 15 persons have been reportedly killed in fresh crisis between herdsmen and farmers in Turan communities in Kwande Local Government Area of the state.
The renewed crisis has led to the disappearance of many persons, while several houses, huts and farmlands have also been razed in the besieged communities.
According to a local in one of the affected communities, the crisis erupted early Sunday morning when suspected armed herdsmen invaded Ikyoawen, where four persons were reportedly killed and houses razed.
The local said: “After that attack, they moved into Nzaav and Alaba in Yaav council ward, where over 11 persons were hacked to death and several houses burnt down by the herdsmen.
