Churches across Europe were once the mainstay of social life and as such, considerable resources went into constructing them.
They were built to become majestic and stunning architectural masterpieces to symbolize the power and centrality of God.
However, new pictures show that many of these churches built in ancient times—and which were synonymous with the Holy Roman Empire—are now abandoned, old and in ruin.
