– The PDP won 9 of the 10 local government areas to defeat the APC in its stronghold
Ademola Adeleke who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared winner of the Osun west senatorial district by-election.
In what was supposed to be a hotly contested election which took place on Saturday, July 9, Adeleke defeated the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mudashiru Hussain who had the backing of Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
The Punch reports that Adeleke who was the brother to the late Isiaka Adeleke whose demise necessitated the by-election got 97, 480 and won 9 out of the 10 local governments.
The Cable reports that Baritor Kpagih who is the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) residential electoral commissioner for the election read the election results and returned the former APC member as senator t complete his brother’s tenure.
