– The community also called on God to cleanse Akokwa community of all bloodshed in the area.
– The police also promised to investigate, detect and prosecute offenders within the rule of law in the community
AKokwa community in Ideato local government area of Imo state has taking attacks by herdsmen in the area spiritual.
Following attacks by herdsmen in the area, residents of the community organized a prayer rally themed: “Akokwa Great Prayer Gathering for God’s Restoration and Mercy on the Land”.
The residents said the spiritual rally is aimed at seeking the restoration of peace in the community and an overflow of God’s mercy on Akokwa lands.
The community nevertheless, used the rally to discuss issues of security as it concerns Akokwa.

During the rally which was also attended by the divisional police officer in the community, the officiating minister, Venerable C.S.O Ukachukwu said: “We know that any sin we commit affects our land; it is the sins of Adam that kept us in perpetual suffering.”
Ukachukwu also called on God to cleanse the community of all bloodshed.
“We are asking God to forgive us today for the bloodshed in Akokwa; the sins of the fathers affect their children.
While we are here for atonement, we have to humble ourselves; we have to pray, we must repent and by so doing God will hear and show us mercy,” Ukachukwu said.
Also, the people of the community promised to provide all that is needed for the police and security operatives to function well in the state.

A chief in the community said a DPO’s and senior officers quarters will be built in the town.
Speaking, the state’s commissioner of police said the police will open a unit of mobile force and special anti-robbery squad.
He also said police officers will be deployed to ensure adequate patrol on the Oba in Anambra, Okigwe- Akokwa in Imo state federal highway.
In his reaction, the divisional police officer of the new police division Anele Nkemakolam said: “Akokwa people are accommodating and willing to cooperate with the police in fighting crime.”
“We will investigate, detect and prosecute offenders within the rule of law, facilitate free passage and movement on high ways, roads and streets in the area and the creation and reinforcement of trust to the police in the communities,” Nkemakolam said.
