Pushing aside the backlash from the All Progressives Congress (APC) against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its members, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state, weekend, called for prayers for ailing President Muhammadu Buhari in London.
President Buhari has been away for over a month in London with discordant tunes trailing his health status while his media aides have continuously churned out different tunes over his health issues to Nigerians.
Specifically, Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed; Femi Adesina, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity and Shehu Garba, Senior Special Assistant on Media, had received backlash from Nigerians over the divergent information they release to Nigerians regarding the health condition of the president.
On several occasions, they have told Nigerian that they receive calls from the President and they relate same to the impatient people of Nigeria who are of the view that President will douse the growing tension if he himself comes on live television to speak to Nigerians and quell the agitation in the minds of the over 190 million people of the country.

However, unwilling to toe the line of many Nigerians who are praying for the President’s death, Governor Okowa told a gathering of PDP faithful in Delta that it is not good to wish President Buhari death.
The gathering was a stakeholders’ meeting of PDP members across the state which was summoned by the state chairman, Kingsley Esiso, to chat the way forward following the court decision granting the PDP national chairmanship to Ali Modu Sheriff.
He said: “I wish the President Muhammadu Buhari speedy recovery and return to Nigeria. It is not good for anyone to wish the president death. Let’s join hands to pray for the President.”
In a similar development, Okowa’s aide, Ovie Success Ossai, has also urged Nigerians to pray for President Buhari for quick recovery and return to the country.
According to Ossai, Nigeria belongs to all of us and it is our responsibility to always pray for our leaders, most especially our president, irrespective of our political affiliations.

“President Buhari is a father, grandfather, a brother, an uncle to us all and as a nation, we owe it a responsibility to pray for our president and not to heap curses on him.
“It’s only a fool that will wish his or her president death because the Holy Bible commands us all to pray for our leaders.
“What ever happens to President Buhari happens to us as a nation, so my fellow Nigerians, let’s pray for our president,” Ossai insisted.
