Drivers’ license in Nigeria has gone through different looks and features, from the booklet type to the laminated one and now there’s the plastic card type.
The Nigeria driver’s license is a legal document issued by the federal government in order to confer the right to drive to its citizens and residents.
In 2012, the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) launched a new commercial drivers’ license with security features that require a mandatory medical certification of drivers before issuance.
The license expired in a three-year terminal date after which motorists were expected to renew the document.
However, in 2016, the federal government endorsed the production of another driving license that will have a five-year expiry period.
In Nigeria, change is constant and the drivers’ license has not been left out of this change. This is the evolution of driver’s licence in Nigeria.
Sure, some people were still toddlers when the first and second drivers’ licenses were in use.
