Christianity under siege in Nigeria, CAN FUMES on interrogation of members by DSS

The Christian Association of Nigeria has condemned the interrogation of some members of the CAN trust fund.

The association said DSS action against its trust is an indication that Christianity is under siege in Nigeria.

The director of legal and public affairs of CAN, Kwamkur Samuel said the attacks on the association by DSS has confirmed the plans by the present administration to Islamize Nigeria.

Samuel’s statement follows the interrogation of four board of trustee members of the CAN Trust Fund.

The members were invited by the DSS in Abuja on Tuesday, February 7.

This invitation also comes a few days after the founder of the Omega Fire Ministries Apostle Suleman was harassed and later invited for questioning by the secret police.

It was also gathered that a former president of the Nigerian Bar Association Priscilla Kuye, the president of NCEF, Solomon Asemota, Bosun Emmanuel and many other Christian leaders have been lined up by the DSS for invitation.

Other who might possibly be interrogated include CAN’s national president Samson Ayokunle and its general secretary Musa Asake.

However reacting to the secret police invitations, Samuel said: “It is very obvious the Church in Nigeria is under siege.”

Nigerian Christians have been facing serious battle on three fronts – Boko Haram is dealing with the Church, Fulani herdsmen are against the Church and the government is also on the Church,” Samuel said.

He added that a United Kingdom media had alleged that military helicopters were seen dropping arms for herdsmen and no government agency has given explanation for that.

“If the government or its relevant security agencies have not disproved that but they are harassing men of God and pastors who are raising funds to rebuild the Church, while government has failed to provide relief materials, then there is a problem,” Samuel added.
