– Former President Goodluck Jonathan has again received bashing from his kinsman, Chief Perekeme Kpodoh in Bayelsa state
– Kpodoh said the people of the Niger Delta are angry that Jonathan could not develop the region despite being the commander of the Nigerian state
– He said Jonathan’s government looted the economy but him with his minister for petroleum resources had no programme for the region
Chief Perekeme Richard Kpodoh, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the former security adviser to the Bayelsa state government has slammed those defending the former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan over the mounting criticism against his six years in the presidency without benefits to the region.
Kpodoh, who has been critical of the alleged wasted years of Jonathan’s six years administration on the issues of good governance, corruption and Niger Delta, described those faulting critics of Jonathan’s administration as sycophants who are trying to provoke the people of the region with clear display of ignorance.
Chief Kpodoh, ZENITHBLOG.com reports, made this position known few days after some political appointees under former President Goodluck Jonathan attacked Governor Seriake Dickson and others over comments against Jonathan.
He said the defenders of Jonathan against the anger of the Niger Deltans are sycophants and only interested in what they will gain from the former president at the detriment of the region.

He said: “Bayelsa state and Ijaw people know why we are attacking the former president. We know him when he had a two bedroom flat at the AOMPADEC in Abuloma in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
“Naturally, when you are at a buffet and table are set, you will differentiate between the rich and the poor. When the rich take their food, you will see the little taken.
“But when the poor take its portion of food, they will build sky scrapers and use polythene bags to keep extra. That means when you give a man with a poor background power, they will loot without working.”
Kpodoh hinted that though his outspokenness has led to threats to his life, he vowed to continue on the part of truth as an Ijaw man from the Niger Delta.
“Nobody should stay in Abuja and outside the region to put up defense against those castigating Jonathan years of fraud. Nobody is a fool and we know what we are doing.
If a leader fails, the Niger Delta people have the right to tackle him. We know what we are saying. We had expected that with a president from the region, all our expectations would have been met. But what we witnessed during Jonathan’s six years was wasteful years of corruption and anti-development.
“Under our brother, we lost hope because those aides from our region turned him to confused president. Look at President Muhammadu Buhari, he is not a Niger Deltan but the region has started witnessing a change.
“Modular refineries were approved for illegal refinery operators. With Deziani, who is from Niger Delta, the region faced crisis without a clear cut policy to

“’Those supporting Jonathan do not have the right to do so. The Niger Delta people are angry over the inability of the Jonathan’s administration to deliver on the expected development and empowerment of the people.
“The outsiders should stop dabbling into issues they know nothing about. If they want to talk, they should tell us what Jonathan has done for his people. When Jonathan was president and his minister of petroleum was at his beck and call, what did they do?
“They did nothing. But look at Buhari and his minister of state for petroleum; they have mapped out a 20-point agenda with modular refineries approved for the region.”
Kpodoh also noted that the souls of those Niger Deltans that died during the struggle for presidential slot wasted by Jonathan are crying for peace, adding that the people of the region were wounded by his failures and are begging for healing.

Meanwhile, Chief Richard Kpodoh has threatened to drag the administration of the Bayelsa state Governor Seriake Dickson to court over the refusal to open a probe into the N50billion wasted on the abandoned 350 bed hospital and the tower hotel in the state.
Kpodoh, who was speaking after a medical check-up at the state owned diagnostic centre in Yenagoa, said though the state assembly has reviewed the law concerning issues of abandoned projects, the reluctance of the Governor Dickson administration to probe waste funds expended by the Dr. Azibabu Eruani led ministry of health and the Jonathan led handling of the tower hotel, “we are ready to ask the court to compel him to check the monies wasted on such projects.”
Kpodoh, however commended the Governor Dickson administration for the building and completion of the state diagnostic centre and the medical personal buildings in the state capital.
He said: “Despite the party differences, when you see the truth you have to say it. I had conducted several tests and was planning on visiting Lagos or outside the country. But I was told about the state diagnostic centre. I was tested and at a lesser cost.
“When I came out of the diagnostic centre, I was confronted by the shame called 350-bed hospital and the tower hotel. There is the need to probe the wasteful spending on those projects.”
