Amid Buhari’s illness, Governor El-Rufai makes pronouncement on his own 2019 ambition

– Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state said he once rejected an offer by an administration to be minister

– He also said his administration has many plans for the citizens and youths in order to ensure peace in the state

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state has finally revealed his ambition for 2019 saying this political future depends on God and President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to him, God and Buhari would determine whether he would seek re-election in 2019.

The Nigerian Tribune reports that the governor said this during a special phone-in radio programme in Kaduna as part of his two years in office.

El-Rufai revealed that he once rejected a ministerial appointment after he served under former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He said he was tired of taking the position.

“If the president comes and meets me and said: ‘I want you to re-contest or otherwise’, I have no option than to obey his command.

“Afterall, in 2014 or thereabout, I had my own plans before the president asked me to

contest the exalted position of the governor and the rest is now history,” he said.

The governor denied that his government had received grants from Melinda Gates for some of the projects being executed in the state capital and its environs.

“We have not only cut cost in governance but we have saved to carry out these projects.

“We were not reckless in our spending but we are very meticulous and prudent in our finances. Your money is safe,” he said.

The governor lambasted those who he accused of promoting division among the people of the state and asked them to desist from doing so.

ZENITHBLOG.com reports that El-Rufai recently hosted Melinda Gates in Kaduna state.
