President Muhammadu Buhari has been away from Nigeria since Thursday January 19, 2017. Once again through his spokesman, he asked for an extension of his medical leave in the UK saying he needed more rest.
This has deepened suspicions that his health is far worse than the reports and pictures are saying. A lot of Nigerians have spoken up about the President’s health.
Yet, some influential politicians have been conspicuously silent. Here are some of them:
1. Dino Melaye
Dino Melaye
Dino Melaye is one of the most outspoken Senators in Nigeria. Last year he was constantly in the news with his blunt criticism on national issues at the floor of the senate and his run-in with Senator Remi Tinubu. He has however been very silent on Buhari’s health.
2. Rochas Okorocha
Rochas Okorocha
Governor Rochas Okorocha of the Imo state is one of the prominent figures in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Strangely, he has been mute on the issues surrounding Buhari’s health.
3. Nasir El-Rufai
Governor Nasir El-Rufai
The governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-rufai is a close confidant of President Buhari. Yet he has been silent on speculations around the president’s health.
This might be due partly to the violence in Southern Kaduna and the resulting outrage.

4. John Oyegun
John Oyegun
The National Chairman of the APC John Odigie Oyegun is also quite close to the President. Yet, through all the speculations and rumor, he has kept silent on the the health of President Buhari.
5. Adams Oshiomole
Adams Oshiomole
The former governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomole is one of the leading politicians in the APC party. But in the last few weeks, Oshiomhole has not spoken on Buhari’s health, not even in passing.

6. Shehu Sani
Shehu Sani
Shehu Sani has criticized the Buhari-led administration quite loudly.
He recently said President Buhari uses deodorants to fight corruption in his inner circles but he uses insecticides on the outer surface. It is quite strange that he has said nothing about the president’s health.
7. Ben Murray Bruce
Ben Murray Bruce
Benedict “Ben” Murray-Bruce, MON is a Nigerian business magnate and politician, who has been very critical of the Buhari government. It is quite unexpected that he is yet to issue a statement on Buhari’s health.
