The senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Sani has revealed the steps lawmakers are taking as regards the long absence of President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, August 8, Senator Sani said the lawmakers are praying for the safe return of the president.
He decried the criticisms directed at the lawmakers by some Nigerians, stressing that they (the National Assembly) have been silent about the issue because they have been praying.

He wrote: “You condemned the National Assembly for been silent while the president is still outside for over 90 days, yes we are silent because we are also like other Nigerians in prayers.
“Prayers need silence. Next you will say we are playing the ostrich. We are not, we are playing the dove.”
On Monday, August 7, Senator Sani said those protesting for the president to resume or resign have the constitutional and fundamental rights to do so.
He however added that the president had properly handed over power to the acting president before he travelled on medical vacation, appealing to the protesters to step down their placard and pick up a prayer book for the president.

Meanwhile, the personal assistant to President Buhari on social media, Lauretta Onochie, has asked Nigerians to stop demanding for the president’s health status.
Onochie, who made this statement during an interview with Channels TV said the president is more a less a private citizens now.
She said it is disrespectful and very intrusive to keep asking for the president’s health status when he has already hand over power to his deputy for the moment.
