Segun Salami, a reporter with Channels TV was allegedly beaten to stupor by a security personnel attached to the Kogi state government house, Punch reports.
ZENITHBLOG.com gathers that the incident allegedly occurred on Monday August 28, and that the security personnel had wrongly accused the journalist of pointing at him while having a discussion with a female colleague from AIT.

That was when trouble reportedly started for Salami, as the security officer allegedly descended on him, aided by other security officials, and began inflicting blows on him.
The journalist attempted to explain that he had not been gossiping about the security personnel, but his pleas were ignored.
According to the report, Salami was eventually dragged on the floor and carted away to the detention center at the state house.
The journalist is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital.
Wilson Inalegwu, the Kogi state commissioner of police disclosed that the matter was being investigated.
He reportedly stated: “We take the conduct of our personnel seriously and you can rest assured that no sinner will go unpunished.”

The government announced that the day should be used by the people as a day of thanksgiving and to pray for the president.
