Acting President Yemi Osinbajo is expected in Argungu, Kebbi state today, August 1, for the commissioning of the 120,000 metric tones per year WACOT rice mill.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the 120,000MT/year rice mill took place in February 2016 and 18 months later, the plant is ready for commissioning.
The rice mill is a wholly private venture by WACOT limited, developed with the policy support Kebbi state government and the federal government.
The mill, a N10 billion investment, is supported by an Outgrower Scheme comprising 6,000 rice farmers.

Primary Catchment area for the Rice Mill is Kebbi state. There are also Buying Centers for Rice Paddy across the north (Kano, Jigawa etc).
WACOT says the decision to set up the Mill came when President Muhammadu Buhari launched the Anchor Borrowers Programme in Kebbi in November 2015.

Meanwhile, the Lagos government has concluded plans for an ultra-modern rice mill.
ZENITHBLOG.com learnt that the agreement for the construction of the mill was reached at a meeting between Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and Buhler Group in Switzerland, a global market leader in rice processing.
