Acting president Yemi Osinbajo has taken the lead in combating climate change issues in the absence of Muhammadu Buhari, as the USA pulled out of the Paris Agreement.
Ibrahim Usman Jibril, Nigeria’s minister of state for the environment arrived in Tehran, the Iranian capital, Sunday July 2, to attend the United Nations International Conference on Combating Sand and Dust storms.

The announcement was made by Ministry of the Environment, via its twitter handle, @FMEnvng.

The ministry also disclosed that the minister chaired the session on policy options, technology, innovation, resource mobilization & cross sector integrated approach.
The conference is scheduled to run from July 3-5.
The Paris Climate Agreement was ratified by president Muhammadu Buhari even as US president Donald Trump pulled his country out of the agreement.

Recall that ZENITHBLOG.com previously reported that presidential spokesperson Femi Adesina disclosed that president Muhammadu Buhari signed the Paris Agreement on Climate Change in demonstration of Nigeria’s commitment to a global effort to reverse the effects of the negative trend.
Buhari said this as he addressed the opening of the meeting on Taking Climate Action for Sustainable Development in New York, co-hosted by Nigeria and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
