More trouble for Dino Melaye as INEC fixes date for verification of signatures for recall of senator (See Notice)

– The Independent National Electoral Commissin (INEC) has announced that the verification exercise will take place on August 19

– The exercise is slated to hold from 8am to 2pm across all the polling units in the senator’s Kogi-west district

– The commission noted that they were following guidelines of the constitution as they carry out the recall process

More trouble seems to be brewing for senator Dino Melaye (APC- Kogi west), as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has allegedly released a date for the verification of the signatures put down for the senator’s recall.

The development was made public in a notice by the commission which was posted on a twitter handle, @jag_bros.

According to the released notice, the exercise will take place on August 19, from 8am to 2pm, across all polling units in the Kogi west senatorial district.

Meanwhile, ZENITHBLOG.com previously reported that the Senator representing Kogi west Senatorial District on Monday, July 10, served a restraining order on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Melaye in a tweet, said the electoral body has been served an order restraining it from further action as ordered by the court.

Before that, ZENITHBLOG.com had also reported that constituents of the Kogi West senatorial district listed 18 allegations against Dino Melaye, their representative at the Senate as a recall process commenced.

In a letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) applying for a recall form, the constituents said their resolve to recall Senator Dino Melaye was to “remove the disgrace he has become to all us.”

The district is made of seven local governments including Yagba West, Yagba East, Mopamuro, Ijumu, Kabba/Bunu, Koton-Karfe, Lokoja.
