Kaduna state has indicated its readiness to conduct 2019 election with electronic voting system.
The state governor, Nasir El Rufai made this known on Monday July 10.

He said: “Today, we plan to consider two presentations – on electronic voting for the forthcoming LG Elections and Primary Healthcare Delivery Plan, as well as treat 14 memoranda and notes. The presentation on LG elections included demonstration of voting by four members of the Council.”

The governor also noted in series of tweets that his government want the state to set the pace for electronic voting in Nigeria.
According to him, top countries like Venezuela, USA, Belgium, Brazil among others have gone this way.

Machines to be used for the LG election have a terminal weight of 5-10kg and have a 16 hours battery life span
The amendments were part of the recommendations in the report by the Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission on ‘A bill for an Act to amend the Electoral Act No. 6, 2010 and for other related matters (SB 231 and SB 234)’.
The report on the amendment was presented by Abubakar Kyari, who stood in for the chairman of the INEC committee, Ali Ndume, who is on a six-month suspension.
