Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state has maintained that Hausa/Fulanis are responsible for most of the kidnappings recorded in the state.
ZENITHBLOG.com gathered that Okowa made the declaration on Wednesday, May 17, during a Town Hall meeting in Effurun, Uvwie local government area of the state.

The Delta state governor who was represented by Chief Edwin Uzor, his special adviser on rural development and peace-building, said his administration has done a lot to reduce clashes between herdsmen and local indigenes to the barest minimum.
He said: “There would have been much more killings but for our consultations. Most of the kidnappings in the state are perpetrated by the Hausa/Fulani in connivance with some of our people.”
It was alleged that the governor was prevented from carrying out the function of commissioning the project by thugs led by Monday Igbuya, the speaker, who was recently impeached from the state legislature.

The ousted speaker led a band of thugs and invaded the venue before chasing away the governor and his entourage.
