An associate professor of political science and chief of staff to Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state, Dr Emmanuel Ojo has decried the comparison between President Muhammadu Buhari’s health situation and that of Late President Umaru Yar’adua.
President Buhari’s medical vacation has generated heated debates in the polity
Speaking in an interview with Daily Trust, Professor Ojo said there is no basis for comparing the crises which preceded the death of late President Umar Yar’Adua in 2010 with what is playing out with the vacation of President Buhari.
According to him, the two instances are entirely different and contrary to the thinking of many Nigerians, there is no vacuum currently in government with Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo acting as the president.

Dr Ojo however opined that the crises generated by Buhari’s vacation in London were actually masterminded by his handlers who give out conflicting information.
He stated that having handed over to Osinbajo as required by the constitution, there should have been no need for the current rumours, speculations and the controversy generated by Buhari’s absence.
He also said Nigerians’ impatience is also fuelling the controversy over the state of the president.
His words:
“For Mr President to have transferred power constitutionally and legally to the Vice-President, Buhari is not missing inaction. In fact we did not even need him in any action because he is already on leave and he has transferred power to Osinbajo”.
He said comparing Buhari with late Yar’Adua does not arise at all even as he declared Buhari as being healthy by all standards having gone through the rigour of election campaign and occupying Aso Rock where he is confronted with humongous responsibilities.
